Susan Irene Scroggins (1965 - 2014)

She entered this world on October 20, 1965 to brighten our lives. She passed on July 22, 2014.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday July 26, 2014 at the Vet's Club from 4-10 pm. She was a master recycler, pool goddess, softball queen, wordsmith, cribbage shark, among many other things. She earned her BA in Humanities and worked for over a decade at the University of Oregon. A lover of knowledge, she was inquisitive and the best conversationalist you'll ever meet. It is difficult to distill down a life so full. She excelled in everything she did and taught us all the power and immensity of love. She is survived by her father Tom Scroggins [37039:K], life spouse John Randall [40668:K], aunt Irene Zeronian and 3.14 million loving friends. She is preceded in death by her full blooded Greek mother Mary Buluheris [32636:K].

Deceased Name: Susan Irene Scroggins
Oct. 20, 1965 – July 22, 2014

Susan Irene Scroggins was born in Appleton, Wisconsin, but soon shuttled to the warmer and less snowy Albany. She went to the North Albany grade school and middle school as well as West Albany High School where she lettered in swimming, volleyball and softball. After graduating in humanities from the University of Oregon, Susie worked at the U of O library, paralleling and delighting her late mother, Mary Scroggins , a librarian at Oregon State University.

This bright and shining star dimmed July 22.

Susie was a talented individual: an expert fly fisherperson, a pool shark, a pitcher for 15 years on one of Eugene's better slow-pitch teams, a champion cribbage player (second best in her family), a scintillating conversationalist, and a loving and beloved friend to thousands of individuals.

Susie is survived by her life partner, John Randall; father Tom Scroggins ; aunt and uncle Irene and Haig Zeronian; avowed aunt and uncle Jim and Pat Tostevin; and aunt Lee Scroggins .

A service of memories will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, in the fellowship hall at the First Christian Church, 432 Ferry St., Albany. A light repast will be served.

Memorial donations may be made to the Albany Friends of the Library.
